Description

The Caregiver/Resident Care Assistant is responsible for attending to resident care needs and the resident%u2019s well being.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Ability to communicate with residents, families, physician and other ancillary support on a daily basis.

* Ability to maintain professional in all emergent situations and respond accordingly.

* Monitor and communicate level of care changes to the Wellness Director.

* Communicate and facilitate needs of any ancillary support for the residents.

* Answer call lights in a timely manner (2 minutes or less).

* Assist the resident in functioning at their highest independent ability possible.

* Knowledge of proper transfer techniques and body mechanics to transfer residents with appropriate assistance.

* Verify resident status changes from the previous shift with the Med Tech/or Care giver and follow-up in the ADL book/P-notes.

* Promptly respond to resident needs.

* Assist and remind the residents of upcoming activities as needed per the Activity Director.

* Assist in dining room. Assist with meals; serve drinks/food to residents. If needed verbally cue residents requiring assistance.

* Assist with clean-up following meals, including but not limited to; clearing dishes off the tables and taking them to the kitchen, picking up trays in rooms (return them to kitchen approx an hour after being served), wiping down tables, chair seats, arms and backs and pick-up food from the floor by vacuuming or sweeping.

* Assist in providing ADLs for residents and the ability to follow the service plans or organize changes when indicated.

* Assist in keeping resident apartments neat and uncluttered providing a safe clean environment.

* Immediately remove incontinent supplies that are wet or soiled.

* Dispose of all soiled clothing and take to the laundry room (mark bag with room number).

* Responsible for all documentation of services offered, given, and declined in ADL books by end of your shift.

* Document any status change or an usual incident to the Med-Tech and Wellness Director, and when necessary write an incident report.

* Report any emergencies to the person in charge. Minor and non-emergency changes should be reported to the Med-Tech and Wellness Director. Family concerns expressed must be immediately reported to the Med-Tech and/or Wellness Director. Follow Policy and Procedure Manual.

* Responsible for light clean-up of resident apartments as necessary on a daily basis. Light clean-up is to include but not limited to; making beds, change if necessary, spot check room, remove all dishes that belong in the kitchen, and any other clean-up as necessary.

* Responsible for taking out every resident trash on both floors daily.

* Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

* Attend all in-services, safety meetings, staff meetings and/or other meetings as called upon.

* Insure residents are being hydrated and are having snacks throughout the day.

* Maintain current First Aid certification.

* Follow the proper procedure for requested time off and attendance policy. Be a reliable employee.

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

* Well groomed, cheerful and enthusiastic.

* Age 18 or older.

* Enjoys working with the elderly.

* Willingness to learn and work.

* Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English Language.
