Description

Receives an accurate report from the retiring charge nurse and takes follow up action as necessary

Counts controlled drugs with the retiring nurse and assumes the responsibility of the key and the drugs when assured that the drugs are correctly accounted for

Evaluates, assigns and supervises all direct patient care given by the nurse aides within the station and initiates corrective action as needed

Identifies special nursing problems and takes corrective action as needed

Documents patient care provided and patient%u2019s response (or lack of) consistently, accurately and on a timely basis

Reports changes in patient condition to the physician, DON, Licensed Supervising Nurse and family on a timely basis

Administer medication and treatment per physician%u2019s orders and accurately records same

Assesses patients%u2019 needs and initiates and develops an individualized plan of care and updates as necessary

Provides the nurse%u2019s aides with a current patient care guide/assignments

Provides clinical supervision to nurse%u2019s aides, counsels and teaches as necessary

Follows appropriate admission and discharging procedures

Assumes responsibility for compliance to federal/state regulations for the assigned shift of duty

Identifies safety and infection control hazards and initiates corrective action

Provides incoming Nurse with a concise and accurate report

Gives direct patient care

Performs other duties as assigned
