The Dietary Cook will primarily be responsible in the preparation of food for nutritious and attractive meals for resident%u2019s dining pleasure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
%u2022 Assist Director with ordering food and supplies needed to successfully meet Residents nutritional needs
%u2022 Prepare food daily as outlined on the weekly menu plan.
%u2022 Assist with menu planning; review and adjust menus with supervisor to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events and holidays.
%u2022 Alter or adapt recipes in collaboration with supervisor to provide best possible food product.
%u2022 Identify food and supplies needed for the next week%u2019s menus and report to the supervisor.
%u2022 Maintain quality of food products by keeping refrigerators and storage facilities neat and clean.
%u2022 Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery; ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
%u2022 Maintain a clean, orderly and safe kitchen environment.
%u2022 Promote proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
%u2022 Report concerns or observations about residents to supervisor.
%u2022 Coordinate and participate in serving food.
%u2022 Monitor portion control to meet residents%u2019 requests and minimize waste.
%u2022 Ability to delegate to Dietary Aids as needed.
%u2022 Provide attractive presentation of food with garnish on the plate before serving.
%u2022 Monitor and record temperatures and chemical levels on kitchen equipment as instructed.
%u2022 Notify Lead/Director of malfunction of equipment or appliances.
%u2022 Encourage and invite residents to participate in the food service program and activities.
%u2022 Assist in delivery storage and proper rotation.
%u2022 Carry out other duties as assigned by Director.
%u2022 Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures.
%u2022 Report on the job injuries to the Director or MOD on the day the injury occurs.
%u2022 Practice safety in working with and around kitchen equipment.
%u2022 Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors.
%u2022 Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
%u2022 Promote Sterling Heights in a positive manner.
%u2022 Promote optimistic teamwork in providing services to residents.
QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:
%u2022 OSHA-MSDS sheets and procedures.
%u2022 Fire and safety procedures.
%u2022 State food-handling and kitchen regulations
%u2022 Operation of kitchen appliances (dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, ice machine, blender, food processor, meat slicer, miser, etc..) and office equipment (photocopier, telephone).
%u2022 Employees will not work under the influence of mood altering or illegal drugs or alcohol.
%u2022 Adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene.
%u2022 Attend all mandatory meetings
%u2022 Maintain first aid certificate
%u2022 Willingness to learn and work
%u2022 Enjoyment in working with Seniors
%u2022 Some experience in food preparation preferred
%u2022 Must be 18 years of age
%u2022 Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
%u2022 Maintain proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing, and pulling
