Qualifications:
a: General Knowledge: must be able to read, write and do simple calculations. Must be able to follow and give written and oral instructions.
b: General Abilities: must be able to plan, organize, direct and delegate within the food production area. Must be thoroughly familiar with food: estimating amounts needed, preparation and knowledge of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
c: Personality Requirements: must be able to communicate effectively with all personnel.
d: Physical Requirements: must have the ability to lift up to fifty pounds, work may involve standing in the period of time.
e: Special Skills: must have excellent cooking skills and follow sanitation guidelines
Summary of Responsibilities:
a: Under general supervision of the Dietary Service Supervisor, the cook must plan and supervise the work of the food production area and its food sanitation program.
b. Responsible for food production for residents and personnel.
c. Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality of food production and portion control, using standardized recipes with appropriate kinds and quantities of foods needed to meet the menu requirements.
d. Must practice and insure compliance of safety policies and procedures of the department and facility.
