Job Description: Housekeeper

Position Title Housekeeper

Department Administration

Reports to: Director of Housekeeping or Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Purpose

Define the roles and responsibilities of the Housekeeper within a long-term care facility. The purpose is to maintain a safe, orderly and clean environment free of obstacles and odors.

Essential Duties

%u2022 Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day including

%u2022 lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors.

%u2022 Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms.

%u2022 Maintain handrails to ensure they are clean and free of debris.

%u2022 Clean and remove dust, dirt or food off walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures. towel bars, towel dispensers.

%u2022 Empty trash cans and replace liners.

%u2022 Sweep and mop floors.

%u2022 Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including the use of caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of the residents.

%u2022 Use supplies and equipment in a safe manner by following the user manual instructions.

%u2022 Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner.

%u2022 Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns.

%u2022 Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies are needing replenished.

%u2022 Excellent customer skills and positive attitude.

%u2022 Excellent time-management skills.

%u2022 Ability to work independently or with a team.

Supervisory Requirements

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Qualification

Education and/or Experience Minimum requirement to perform the essential functions of this position is a High School Diploma or a GED.

Experience working in a long-term care facility preferred.

Language Skills Ability to read and understand procedure and instruction manuals and directions.

Mathematical Skills Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Fluent in written and spoken English.

Daily use of housekeeping supplies and equipment.

Travel by auto or airline may be required.
