THIS POSITION IS A SPLIT ASSIGNMENT WORKING IN JANITORIAL FOR FLOOR WORK AND HOUSEKEEPING FOR PATIENT CARE ROOMS. THIS IS A SKILLED NURSING FACILITY. PREFER EXPERIENCED APPLICANTS. IT IS AN IMMEDIATE PLACEMENT. HOURS ARE VARIABLE DAY, EVENINGS AND/OR EARLY AM'S.
Housekeepers play an important part in the everyday care of patients and resident in the skilled nursing facility. Daily duties may include changing linens on residents' beds. They may clean and disinfect bathrooms, washing mirrors, and replenishing washroom supplies. Floor cleaning is another regular duty, which includes sweeping and mopping, as well as occasional buffing.
A Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning offices and other areas in the nursing homes Based on the skilled nursing facility, this would include cleaning rooms, individual offices, lobbies, common areas, hallways, bathrooms, and kitchens. Housekeepers must perform diverse tasks to keep companies, residences and other establishments clean.
Perform General Cleaning
Among the cleaning duties that a Housekeeper might be responsible for include vacuuming, dusting, and polishing. They would ensure that floors, furniture, office equipment and windows are thoroughly cleaned and presentable to visitors, employees, and residents. Cleaning duties would also involve emptying trashcans and transporting trash to appropriate receptacles.
Stock Supplies
A Housekeeper might need to keep an inventory of cleaning supplies, such as detergents, floor wax and furniture polish, and ensure that these supplies are well stocked. They are responsible for replenishing supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels in restrooms.
Change Sheets and Linens
When working for nursing home, a Housekeeper must remove linens and bedsheets and replace them with fresh ones. The housekeeper on some occasions would need to wash, dry, and fold these items or send them to the laundry department. Within these establishments, a Housekeeper might need to replace sheets and linens per individual guest or patient request.
Housekeeper Skills
Strong organizational and customer service skills are important for Housekeepers. They should be detail-oriented and while working in teams is required at times, have the ability to work independently, with little or no supervision. The housekeeper should also have the ability to perform pushing, lifting, and carrying activities. Besides these general skills, many employers might look for Housekeeper candidates to possess the following skills.

GENERAL DAILY DUTIES
Make sure to move all beds and nights stands daily.
Dust all surfaces including windowsills, picture frames, blinds, fireplace glass and mirrors.
Wash dust pans as needed.
Need to open any door that is not locked, sweep and mop.
Clean door handles, light switches, and door frames.
Clean residents%u2019 rooms and common areas
Clean bed side tables, tops and bottom of frames.
Clean bed boards, light fixtures.
Bathroom from top to bottom of the toilet. Don%u2019t forget the sink and the mirror.
Deep clean a room when the resident or patient is discharged or goes to the hospital.
Clean the eyewash stations.
Clean all walls top to bottom, wipe food from ceilings.
Wipe legs and underneath table in the dining rooms.
Change privacy curtains with each deep cleaning of rooms.
If you see anything that needs attention, complete the task without direction.
Only the housekeepers that are passing meal racks should being other duties as assigned.
Replenish soap dispensers paper towels, and toilet paper.
Unclog toilets as needed.
Mop floors daily.
Remove and rehang curtains as needed or with each deep cleaning.
