Description

Job Functions for Housekeeping:

A. Clean assignment of resident rooms and bathrooms daily as assigned in accordance with facility procedures.

B. Keep resident rooms and contents clean and orderly in accordance with the wishes of the resident.

C. Clean other areas of the facility daily as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor

D. Treat all residents with dignity and respect when performing duties in resident care areas.

E. Be courteous, considerate and cooperative when communicating with all facility personnel, residents and public.

F. Practice infection control policies and procedures of the department and the facility.

G. Practice safety policies and procedures of the department and facility.

H. Secure cleaning chemicals in housekeeping cart or closet unless in immediate possession and use.

I. Promptly report any needed repairs to Housekeeping Supervisor.

J. Perform other housekeeping-related tasks as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor.

K. Assist Housekeeping Supervisor with weekly and monthly major housekeeping tasks when requested to do so.

L. React appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations.

M. Attend In-Service education and group meetings as required.

N. Perform other duties as may be assigned by Laundry Supervisor.

Job Functions for Laundry:

A. Separate linens - sheets, towels, resident's clothing, etc., in soiled linen baskets.

B. Wash and dry linen and clothing in accordance with facility policies and procedures.

C. Fold and stack clean linen.

D. Place folded linen on clean linen cart which is covered and deliver to appropriate location.

E. Place resident's clean clothing on hangers or on rack designated for resident clothing, and deliver to specified resident' room. Put hanging clothes in closet and folded linen in drawers. Deliver the correct clothing to the proper resident.

F. Follow specific procedures for Isolation Linen.

G. Clean laundry room at end of the shift according to established facility procedures. Keep laundry area neat and orderly.

H. Clean soiled linen containers daily with a disinfecting solution.

I. Practice infection control policies and procedures of the department and the facility.

J. Practice safety policies and procedures of the department and facility.

K. Promptly reports any needed repairs to Supervisor.

L. Be courteous, considerate and cooperative when communicating with all facility personnel, residents and public.

M. React appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations.

Qualifications:

A. The equivalent of a High School Diploma is preferred.

B. Experience working in a health care facility is preferred.

C. Ability to read, speak and understand basic English, follow directions and complete tasks as assigned.

D. Ability to read posted instructions for use of washers, dryers, etc.

E. Maintain neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
