Laundry Associate
Reports to: Director Plant Operations
Job Summary: The Laundry Associate is responsible for assuring an adequate quantity of linen is maintained throughout the facility by following facility procedure and policy ensuring that both soiled and clean linen are handled, stored, transported and processed in a manner that prevents cross-contamination and maintains the integrity of the facilities infection control programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to sorting, laundering, drying, folding, restocking and delivering clean linen to all parts of the facility.
Sort soiled linen
Launder soiled linen
Dry freshly laundered linen
Deliver clean linen onto shelves in clean linen room and then to linen carts
Count and track inventory of facility linen
Matches count of items received to items sent on invoice
Restocks and delivers clean linen to all parts of the facility
Must be able to communicate effectively with facility staff and to call linen supplier or linen service as directed by Director of Plant Operations, Director of Nursing Services, and/or facility Executive Director/ Administrator
Must communicate in a professional manner with vendors, fellow employees, Nursing Staff, and other Department Directors
Responsible for Lost and Found
May also be trained for Environmentalist coverage
Other duties as assigned by Director of Plant Operations and/or Facility Executive Director/ Administrator
Qualifications
Must be able to communicate in English
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and have good communication skills
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Must be able to perform simple mathematics
Experience in hospital/ skilled nursing linen procedures preferred
Hospital/ skilled nursing cleaning / linen procedures experience preferred, but not required
Must be neat, clean and in working uniform while on duty, must be able to work well with others and in the presence of people
Must be cooperative and dependable
Must undergo annual PPD examination
Must be able to work from a three-foot ladder
Must be able to stoop freely
Must be able to work standing six-plus hours per day
Must be able to push and / or pull carts on wheels weighing up to 900 lbs.
Completion of crisis prevention training (if there is a possibility of responding to security calls) Lifting Requirements Medium %u2013 considered lifting 50 lbs maximum with frequent lifting and / or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
