Description

Job Duties:

A. Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established maintenance policies and procedures.

B. Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed.

C. Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.

D. Clean windows and screens as directed.

E. Replace burned out light bulbs, to include, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform cleaning duties wherever necessary.

F. Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.

G. Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.

Safety and Sanitation:

A. Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.

B. Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance service.

C. Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects.

D. Maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment.

E. Keep your work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills. Excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Refer to material safety data sheets (MSDSs) when necessary.

F. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs.

G. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your supervisor immediately.

H. Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.

I. Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing maintenance procedures.

J. Participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood, body fluids, or hazardous chemicals.

K. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and supplies when handling infectious materials.

L. Follow established hand washing procedures.

M. Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with our established sanitation procedures.

N. Follow established policies governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious wastes.

O. Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.

P. Other(s) that may become necessary/appropriate to assure that our facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.

Resident Rights:

A. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosures of such information.

B. Honor the residents' personal and property rights.

C. Inform resident when it is necessary to move his/her personal possessions.
