Essential Functions

%u2022 Direct the day-to-day functions of the Certified Nursing Assistants in accordance with the current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long term care facility

%u2022 Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you complies with the written policies and procedures established by this facility

%u2022 Periodically review the department%u2019s policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, and make recommendations for revision

%u2022 Meet with your assigned nursing staff, as well as support personnel, in planning the shifts%u2019 services, programs, and activities

%u2022 Participates in facility surveys(state inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested

%u2022 Admit, transfer, and discharged residents as required

%u2022 Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting etc., as necessary

%u2022 Document nurses notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the residents as well as the residents response to care

%u2022 Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with the established charting and documentation policies and procedures

%u2022 Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physicians

%u2022 Ensure that an adequate supply of medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the needs of each residents

%u2022 Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and in accordance with established policies

%u2022 Review and evaluate your departments%u2019 work force and make recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services

%u2022 Develop work assignments and/ or assist in completing and performing such assignments

%u2022 Make daily rounds of your unit to ensure that nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Report areas of concern to the Director of Nursing Services

%u2022 Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents

%u2022 Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility%u2019s policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents

%u2022 Implement and maintain established nursing objectives and standards

%u2022 Inspect the nursing services care areas daily to ensure that they are maintained in a clean and safe manner

%u2022 Administer professional services such as; catheterizations, tube feedings, suction, wound care, ostomy care, drainage care, care for deceased residents, and IV administration within the scope of practice

%u2022 Obtain specimens for lab tests as ordered

%u2022 Participate in developing, planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training classes that provide instructions to staff as needed

%u2022 Attend and participate in the facility in-service program as scheduled

%u2022 Review care plans routinely for appropriate goals, problems, approaches, and revisions based on nursing needs

%u2022 Maintain confidentiality of all residents care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information

%u2022 Monitor care to ensure that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity, and respect

%u2022 Ensure that all nursing service personnel are knowledgeable of the residents%u2019 responsibilities and rights
