Description

This position provides nursing care services to residents and works collaboratively with members of the healthcare team. We offer an excellent benefit package for medical, dental, RX and vision.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON), provides wound and skin care services to residents. Works collaboratively with members of the healthcare team. Maintains standards of professional nursing practice. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Completes shift duties in an accurate and timely manner.

Assess and evaluate current treatments.

Dresses wounds, apply wound vac%u2019s.

Applies compresses, ice bags, K-Packs, or other approved devices.

Observes residents and reports adverse reactions to treatment to medical personal in charge.

Administers specified topical skin medication, Barrerier creams and ointments and notes time and amount.

Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters and tracheotomy tubes.

Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from residents for testing and performs routine laboratory test on samples.

Disinfects equipment and supplies using germicides.

Maintain skin documentation of skin sheets, care plans, current treatment orders and progress notes,

Assists residents and turning as needed.

Assess new admit with Admission Nurse.

Follow wound MD for wound rounds.

Demonstrates knowledge of nursing process, particularly as it relates to geriatric residents, long-term, and rehabilitation.

Requires mental maturity to deal with face-paced environment and occasionally combative residents.

Requires tolerance for body secretions, strong odors, exposure to diseases, and varied room temperatures.
